katherine Halloran Obituary

Katherine Geraldine Halloran passed away on June 5th, 2026. She was born August 8th, 1943, in Milford, Michigan, the only child of Gladys and Thurman Buell. She married Richard D. Halloran Jr. in 1968, and together they moved to Millington, Michigan, where they raised their three children.

Kathy grew up in Milford and built her family life in Millington, where she and Richard created a home rich with tradition and hard work. The family grew the majority of their own vegetables, and Kathy routinely canned and froze the harvest. She taught her children to make bread, cookies, and all manner of recipes, instilling in them valuable life skills that have stayed with them throughout their lives.

Kathy earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and began her career teaching at the Holy Ghost Fathers Seminary. After marrying Richard, she devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. She later worked as a bookkeeper and then spent several years at the Millington Township Library before relocating to California to be closer to family.

Kathy's husband, Richard D. Halloran Jr., preceded her in death on July 11th, 1992.

As grandchildren came along, Kathy became known simply as Nana. Any visit to Nana's house was filled with joy and adventure, with puzzles, books, and plenty of space outside to explore.

She is survived by her three children: Kate Lee (Robert Lee) of California, Richard Dunn Halloran III, and Timothy Freeman Halloran (Amelia). Her grandchildren are Bradley Halloran and Ada Brooks, Ella Halloran and her husband Nate Jones, twins Hunter and Hannah Lee, and Hope, Hermione, Henry, and Veleda Halloran.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Leo the Great in Sonoma, California on Friday, June 12th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Arbela Township, Michigan on Friday, July 18th, 2026 followed by a gathering at the Arbela Township Center. Further details on the Michigan service will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association at donorservices.alz.org.
