William Thomas Shield IV

William “Bill” Shield passed away on July 18, 2025 in Sonoma, California. Born and raised in San Francisco, Bill attended Sherman Elementary, Marina Middle, and Galileo High School. At Galileo, Bill met his wife of 63 years, Anna Fiore. A Marine Corps veteran, Bill worked as a stockbroker until he and Anna moved to Sonoma. Bill became a master gardener, falling in love with the beautiful abundance of Sonoma.

Bill is survived by his adoring wife Anna, daughter Gina, and son Michael. Bill leaves behind his son-in-law Charles Hanley and his cherished grandchildren: grandson William Thomas Hanley and his wife Nikki, granddaughter Kathleen Hanley, and grandson Charles (“CJ”) Hanley III and his wife Shannon. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Rosie Wallace.

A service will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 1pm at Duggan’s Mission Chapel. Reception at The Swiss Hotel garden to follow.
