Suzanne Bradbury Obituary

Suzanne Bradbury passed away peacefully in Sonoma, California on February 19, 2018 surrounded by her five children.  She was active and independent for her entire 89 years.

Sue was born and raised in Woodland, California.  She was the youngest of five children born to Lawrence and Bertie Stephens of Woodland.  After graduating Woodland High School, Sue attended California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland where she enjoyed studying design, and where she was to meet her future husband, Jack H. Bradbury.  Sue and Jack eloped to Gardnerville, Nevada on June 24, 1948.  In the years following, Sue and Jack lived in various cities throughout California while they began building their family.  In 1967, they chose to settle their family in the town of Sonoma.

Sue will forever be remembered for her bright spark, kindness, generosity, infectious laugh and loving spirit toward people, animals and all living things.  She was a beautiful soul who taught by example and she was adored by all who knew her.  Her sharp sense of humor, artistic talents and fun times will be greatly missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.  Sue was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  Some of her many passions included her family, pets, the arts, good books, gardening, designing, traveling, knitting and sewing.

Sue is survived by her loving children:  Jack Jeffrey Bradbury, and his wife, Linda, Terry Bradbury Carter, Renee Bradbury, all of Sonoma, Donna Bradbury Cresswell, and her husband, Don, of Castro Valley, and Lisa Bradbury of San Francisco; her dear sister Antoinette Peckham of Sausalito; her adoring five grandchildren Kevin Ross, and his wife, Amy, Shelby Ross, Stacy Stranzl, Myles Stranzl and Sam Chao, and her caring nieces and nephews.  Sue was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of 61 years, and by three siblings:  Aloise Baird, Bertie Bruce and Larry Stephens.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Guy Delorefice, Hospice by the Bay, and Duggen’s Mission Chapel for their outstanding compassion and support.

If desired, memorial donations in Sue’s honor may be made to the following non-profit organizations:  Pets Lifeline Animal Center, P.O. Box 341, Sonoma, CA 95476; Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O.
