Stephen Weiler Obituary

Stephen H. "Steve" Weiler, a man of quiet strength and unwavering reliability, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Napa, California, at the age of 77, from pulmonary fibrosis. A longtime resident of Sonoma, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and active community volunteer. Born on October 8, 1948, to Harry and Billie Weiler, Steve grew up with a tireless work ethic. After graduating from Tahoe Truckee High School, he began his career working for the California State Parks Department at Folsom Lake. After moving to Sonoma, he owned and operated Steve's Service Station for 20 years. Following the sale of the station, Steve returned to state service as a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker, worked through the ranks, and became a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 2015. Steve was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and elk hunting and the patient pursuit of gold mining. In his later years, he channeled his energy into his grandchildren, his garden, and the craft of winemaking. He was also an avid poker player and NASCAR fan. From sponsoring local sports teams and bowling leagues to coaching basketball and baseball, leading the Sonoma Valley 4-H Club Swine Project, and supporting the Cub Scouts, Steve was a man who showed up for others. He regularly volunteered at the annual Sonoma County 4-H Chickenque and was also a solicitor for the Sonoma County Fair Junior Livestock Auction. He volunteered for various events at St. Francis Solano School and worked at their weekly bingo games for many years. He was a parishioner at St. Leo's Church and a "nurturer" in the truest sense of the word. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Weiler; his sons, James and Mark Weiler, Michael Repetto (Michele) who is loved as a son and a constant presence in the family; his cherished daughter in law, Sarah; his brothers, Ken and Dennis Weiler; his six grandchildren, Victoria, Dylan, Jack, Syerra, Owen and Finnegan; and his great-granddaughter, Athena. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Margie McKenna. A funeral service will take place at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Sonoma on April 24, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Steve's honor to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org) or your favorite charity.
