Roberta "Bobbie" Morovich Obituary

Roberta Jane Morovich (Rist) was born at Sonoma Valley Hospital in May of 1962 and died Sunday July 10th, 2022. She was the fourth daughter born out of five girls to Wilfred and Shirley.

Bobbie grew up in Sonoma, riding her pony, participating in countless Sonoma parades, attending El Verano Elementary, Altamira Middle School, and graduating from Sonoma Valley High School in 1980.  In 1983 Bobbie married her high school sweetheart, John Morovich. Together, as their love grew, they started a business, built a loving home, and brought two amazing daughters into the world. Ashley was born in May of 1988 and Shirley was born in February of 1992. Being a mom was Bobbie’s whole world.

Bobbie devoted her life to raising her two girls, being a great wife, and making so many others around her feel special, loved, and welcomed. Being a mom was her favorite job but Bobbie was also a legal secretary, counseled at-risk youth, and finished her career at the Veterans home in Yountville. Bobbie also coached many years for the Sonoma Valley Girls Softball Association, and loved to hike, kayak, and going to the beach.  She was very active and loved tending to her flowers and garden in her beautiful backyard.

Arguably her biggest accomplishment to date and by far her most favorite, is becoming a Lovey (grandma) in 2018 to Georgia Jane and then Banks in 2020. Being their Lovey meant the world to her and helped motivate her throughout her cancer journey until the end of her life. Even though her grandkids only had a few short years with her; her impact on them will be evident as they continue to grow.

Her cancer journey, with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), began in October of 2020. She never let it overcome her or her life. She lived life to the fullest, stayed fierce and strong through it all, and fought like hell right up to the end. She had an amazing support system of family and friends. The example that she set as a friend, will serve as a template for those that were fortunate enough to have known her.

Although her legacy will live on, the Valley has truly lost one of its greatest women.  Bobbie, you will be immeasurably missed and you will be forever be cherished in our hearts.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley, her father, Bill, and her grandmother, Anne. She is survived by John Morovich, daughter Ashley Greigg (John Thomas Greigg), daughter Shirley Morovich (Charlie Hicks), and grandchildren Georgia Jane and Banks Greigg. She is also survived by her many loving sisters and their families.
