Randy Rogers

Randy Rogers, born in 1958 in Santa Rosa, California, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2026. A devoted brother, uncle, friend, and nationally ranked Masters swimmer, Randy lived a life marked by service, integrity, and quiet excellence.

A 1981 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Randy served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific and Middle East, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He played key roles in operations, logistics, and communications, and served in both Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1992, he earned a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Affairs from the U.S. Naval War College.

Randy went on to a distinguished career with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), beginning as Fleet Captain of the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, where he received the Secretary of Transportation’s Award for Valor for rescuing three fishermen from frigid waters. He later served as Port and Intermodal Specialist for six Western states and Guam, contributing to major maritime and portsecurity initiatives. In 2004, he was selected to lead the newly established DOT/MARAD Southern California Gateway Office in Long Beach.

Known for his leadership, dedication, and ability to bring people together, Randy leaves behind a legacy of service to his country and the maritime community. He is survived by his sister, Karen, and his nephews, Kyle and Colin.
