Michael Mullaney, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away 16th April peacefully in Sonoma, California at the age of 84.
Born in Castleconnor, County Sligo, Ireland, Michael was the eldest son of Bridget and Michael Mullaney. He was a devoted brother to Brian, Hugh, Sheila, Carmel, Dolores, Mary, and Margaret. As the eldest son, he took on family responsibilities early and cared deeply for his siblings, nieces and nephews throughout his life becoming Godfather to many.
Michael served in the Irish Army Reserves before seeking opportunity abroad. His journey took him from London to Australia, and eventually to San Francisco, where he met his wife Joan and built a life full of love and connection. He settled in Sonoma, a place which would become his home. Everywhere he lived he became a valued member of the community. A builder by trade he worked all over the world even building his own house in Australia which still stands to this day.
Michael loved nature, his pets, barbecues, travel, and above all, family. He remained closely connected to loved ones across the world, always on the other end pf the phone for a long chat.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humour, generosity, and deep devotion to those he loved. The family thanks the Sonoma community, the St Leo’s congregation and Maureen Brady and family, for their care and friendship.
May he rest in peace.
