Michael Goodin Obituary

Our family is saddened to share the news that Michael Lee Goodin of Sonoma, CA peacefully passed away just as the sun was rising on Sunday October 3, 2021.

Born to Leonard and Rosemary (née Pidcock) Goodin, Michael’s younger years were growing up in the Sunset District of San Francisco. He graduated from St. Anne School, Archbishop Riordan High School and City College of San Francisco. Michael also spent time at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park and created life-long friendships at all his schools. Michael entered the San Francisco Fire Department on April 6, 1966 and retired as Battalion Chief after 23 years of dedicated service.

He believed in and respected four major establishments: the United States, the Democratic Party, the Catholic Church and the labor union; with grave reservations about the behavior and direction of all four!

In 1967, he married Patricia (née Doody) Goodin. They added five children to their family and moved to Novato in 1976. After his divorce, Mike spent many years living in Yolo and Placer counties eventually settling in Sonoma County to be closer to his family.

He was an avid fisherman who always had a trusty pickup truck by his side, loved a good debate, enjoyed travelling and was especially proud of having visited numerous Presidential Libraries.

Michael is survived by his five children Anthony Goodin (Michele Baker), Danielle Lockwood, Christine Goodin (Tony Pinochi), Joe Goodin (Erica Adams), Jack (Nichelle) Goodin.  Mike was a proud Grandpa to his nine grandchildren; Kelly, Dakotah, Molly, Christopher, Nick, Alex, Matt, Kaleigh, Olivia and two great grandchildren, Aliyah and Jayce. Mike is survived by his six siblings (Ken, Ron, Doug, Stephen, Therese and Denise), an abundance of cousins, nieces and nephews; all who loved him and will miss him very much.

Special thanks to Michael’s caregivers, Annie Burquez, Marlyn Vinluan and Rosalie Paglinawan and to By The Bay Health.  These truly extraordinary people helped him through his last several months with dignity, respect and love.

Funeral services were handled by Duggan's Mission Chapel and Funeral Home, St Francis Solano Church and Pleasant Hills Memorial Park.  Funeral mass and burial services were privately held on October 19, 2021.  We already miss him dearly.
