Leonard Rudnick Obituary

Leonard was born in Los Angeles and is predeceased in death by his father, Pierce Theodore Rudnick, his mother, Beatrice (Buena) Beraha Rudnick, and stepmother Vivian Lewis Rudnick.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes Steinwachs Rudnick, his daughter, Michele Lynch, son in law, Christopher Lynch, granddaughter, Maddie Lynch, and sister, Barbara Rudnick Mochrie.  He was an uncle to Jeff Mochrie, Chad Mochrie, and Dean Mochrie.

A true Angelino, Leonard lived in Los Angeles until shortly before his death when he moved to Sonoma to be closer to his daughter.  Leonard knew Los Angeles like the back of his hand and delighted in taking anyone on a tour using the most obscure back streets.  He was an encyclopedia of all things Los Angeles and would talk endlessly about the city to anyone who would listen.  Leonard enjoyed frequent visits to The Huntington Library, The Hollywood Bowl, and eating at The Tam O’ Shanter and The Pantry.

Leonard studied engineering at Los Angeles City College and Cal State LA where he made many life-long friends.  He worked as a computer engineer for roughly 40 years until his retirement, when he then became an insurance agent.

Leonard thrived when he was helping people and was very involved in the Tropico Kiwanis Club of Glendale in the 80’s and 90’s, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at his parish, Holy Redeemer|St. James the Less, in more recent years.

In his younger years, Leonard had many epic adventures camping, hiking, and bicycling, and he loved telling and retelling his many stories.

As a life-long Dodgers fan, he was glad to have lived long enough to see the Dodgers win another World Series, especially against the Yankees.  A staunch Republican for the majority of his life, he changed party affiliations in 2016 to Democrat so that he would have no ties to Donald Trump, and died just in time to not live through another Trump presidency.

A celebration of life will be held at an upcoming date in Los Angeles.
