Joan Dow Obituary

Adored mother & grandma, Joan Dow, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Sonoma on March 1, 2023. She is survived by her son Todd Sweeney and her daughter Laura Dunkle (Curt) and grandchildren Megan Sweeney and the Dunkle boys Lucas, Kameron, Kyle, Jacob (Becca), Clayton, and Nolan. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Edwin Sweeney and her eldest son Scott.

Everyone who has known Joan has been inspired to be like her – a truly loving and giving person who always placed the needs of others before her own. The measure of her amazing life cannot be summed up by her many accomplishments but rather by the lasting impact she will have on all of those who were blessed to know her.

Rather than a formal memorial service, Joan’s wish is to have a family dinner with a place for her at the table. If anyone would like to honor her memory, please feel free to donate to North Bay Animal Shelter or the Vintage House.
