Jeannette "Nettie" Miailovich (nee Anklam) died peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2020 in her home in Sonoma, CA, age 84 after a brief illness, attended by her only child Paul Miailovich, her son-in-law Lorenzo Quiroz, Jr. and her dear friends Rene Peralta and John Michael Peralta. Jeannette was preceded in death by Donald Miailovich, her beloved husband of fifty-one years.
Jeannette is survived by her son Paul Miailovich, her son-in-law Lorenzo Quiroz, Jr. and her sister Mary Swaney. She was preceded in death by Donald Miailovich, her beloved husband of fifty-one years.
Jeannette was born on July 23, 1935 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. When she was 25, instead of settling down to start a family like most women her age, she journeyed to Alaska with her best friend Norma Kuester in search of adventure. They later settled in San Francisco where they each met their future husbands on a double-date. Jeannette and Donald were engaged six weeks later and were married in Monterey, California on November 9, 1963.
Jeannette was a voracious reader of whip-smart intelligence and a sardonic sense of humor. She traveled extensively, although her favorite destination was Puerto Vallarta, where she and Don visited every year for twenty years, often joined by their son Paul and his husband Lorenzo.
In lieu of a memorial service, Jeannette expressly wished for her friends and family to drink a shot or five of their favorite spirit, although her personal preference was vodka.
