Francesca C. Alioto, beloved matriarch, world traveler, and a quiet force of nature, passed away peacefully at the age of 102, in Sonoma, CA. She was born to Guiseppe and Vincenzina Alioto on February 3, 1923, and was preceded in death by her siblings Nunzio (Antoinette), Nina (Frank), Frank (Mary), Peter (Nina), and Joseph (Pauline). She is survived by many generations of adoring nieces and nephews.
Born with an adventurous spirit, Francesca's journeys took her to many places around the world including two of her most beloved: Africa, where she did missionary work, and Sant’Elia, Sicily the hometown of her parents. She lived a rich and full life in San Francisco, Glendale, and finally Sonoma.
Francesca worked tirelessly—most recently at McCaulou's, where she remained a dedicated employee until the age of 98. She treasured time with family above all else, enjoyed writing letters to keep in touch with dear friends, found excitement in horse racing, and carried herself with elegance, strength, and a quiet resilience that touched all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends are invited to attend a mass in her honor on Tuesday June 24th 2025, at 12:00 noon at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church 469 3rd St W, Sonoma, CA 95476.
