Florence Virginia Hurley passed away surrounded by family on February 9, 2020. After 89 years of a full and meaningful life, Florence will be buried next to her husband of 65 years Russell R. Hurley, at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sonoma, California.
Florence was a wife, a mom, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Florence and Russell lived in Sonoma for 56 years.
Born in Tomales, California, to Frank and Josephine Leal, she eventually moved to her father’s dairy ranch on Broadway in Sonoma. Florence was very close to her twin sister Francis, sisters Theresa, Lorraine, Luella and brothers Clarence, Robert and Frank.
She leaves behind her children, Richard Hurley, Debra Braun, Ronald Hurley and Randy Hurley, all of whom cherished her. Being married to a navy man, Florence lived in Hawaii and on the East Coast, before they finally settled in Sonoma.
Florence enjoyed being at home with her kids, but once the kids went on to their own endeavors, she wanted to do something different also. She was a seamstress in Santa Rosa for many years and also worked for the Napa School District preparing meals for the students. Our family will not be the same without mom, but we will all find comfort in knowing she is with her beloved husband. We can celebrate the life she lived, remembering all the great and fun times we all shared with her.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street, Sonoma, CA 95476. Visitation will begin at the chapel at 1 p.m. Private interment at Veteran’s Memorial Park, Sonoma, CA.
