Ephimia Morphew Obituary

Ephimia Enepekides Morphew passed away peacefully on October 28, 2021. She was born on July 19, 1933 in Korydallos, Greece to Jordan and Despina Enepekides. As a teenager, she studied French and was enrolled in the Conservatory of Music in Piraeus and at 19 her family moved to Athens. In 1958, Ephimia took a fateful trip to Montreal, Canada where her brother, Nick had emigrated two years earlier. While there, they decided to make a visit to friends in San Francisco. It was during this visit that Ephimia was invited to a friend’s Greek wedding and it was there that she met the love of her life, Forrest. The rest is history.

On November 7, 1959, Ephimia and Forrest were married and eventually, they settled in Tiburon and raised their three daughters. In August 2018, to be closer to their daughter, Forrest and Ephimia moved from Tiburon to Byron Park Adult Community in Walnut Creek, CA. Throughout her life in Marin County, Ephimia was active in several community organizations. As a charter member of her beloved Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, Ephimia sang in the church choir and was a past president of the Women’s Philoptochos Society. Ephimia had a beautiful singing voice and loved the theater. She participated in several local operas with the Marin Opera Company. Not only was Ephimia talented in singing, she also had a gift for jewelry design. She worked for many years creating and selling unique pieces of jewelry that were sold at the De Young Museum and  estate sales throughout the bay area.  She was also proud to be a member of Marin Republican Women Foundation.  Ephimia enjoyed traveling with Forrest to Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as spending time with their family and friends.

Ephimia was truly a force of nature. She was larger than life, smart, funny, witty, elegant, full of love and laughter to the end. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved her family fiercely and adored her seven grandchildren.

Ephimia is preceded in death by her husband of almost 62 years, Forrest. Ephimia is survived by their three daughters, Louisa Murray (Keith) of No. Virginia; Donia Gousios (George) of Lafayette, CA; Melinda Lu (Rick) of Saratoga, CA; and grandchildren: Jordan Murray (James Miller); Ryan Murray, Christopher Gousios, Athan Gousios, Nicholaos Gousios, Brandon Lu and Alexis Lu. She also leaves behind her much loved brother Nicholas (Miranda – deceased) of Montreal, Canada and her Nephews Danny (Elena) of Toronto, Canada, Terry (Maria) and Niece Angie (Spiro) of Montreal, Canada. She also leaves behind her precious pup Chloe, who will be well loved.

A special thank you to her amazing caregivers over the past several months: Sonya, Marilou, and Yolanda . She leaves many friends too numerous to mention but she loved you all very much.

Funeral services will be held at Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, Novato, CA on Wednesday November 10th, 2021 at 11:00am. A traditional Greek Makaria will follow after the Church service. Interment will be at Mountain Cemetery, 90 First Street, West, Sonoma, CA.
