It is with sorrow that we share that Edna S Duer passed away on the morning of December 2, 2025. She was 90 years old.
She was known for her dedication to her family, keeping connected to relatives across the country and her friends, and her love of travel.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Dorsey (William), her son Robert Duer (Wendy), grandchildren Mason, Ron, Hayden, Brendan and Brian, and Great-grandchildren Leila, Eleanor, Tori and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron Duer, her parents Clarence and Dorothy Smith, and her sister Beverly Bragg.
Edna was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. She attended Mary Baldwin College and the University of Alabama, studying psychology and Spanish. She was an alumnae of Chi Omega sorority. She married Ron in 1957 and moved to Sonoma, California in 1959.
Edna had a local circle of friends that she lunched with regularly, and she made many trips back to the South to maintain her family connections there. Her main focus was on providing a loving home for her family. In her early years, Edna was a model for local business es. She and Ron enjoyed traveling and visited most of the U.S. and many countries around the world, and attending the baseball games and activities of her children and grandchildren. Edna was initially a member of the First Congregational Church in Sonoma, and then later joined Sonoma United Methodist Church. She enthusiastically followed SF Giants baseball and University of Alabama football. (Roll Tide!)
Family will hold a graveside service for her at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa at 3 pm on Friday December 12, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or to the charity of your choice.
