Doyle Cortner Obituary

Doyle Cortner passed peacefully, surrounded by his family in person and in spirit. Doyle is survived by his beloved Wife of 60 years, four sons, one daughter and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doyle was born in Los Angeles and Joined the Navy. He served on the Cruiser, Saint Paul during the Korean war. Doyle later moved to Sacramento and worked many construction and carpenter jobs. He had a sense of humor that could occasionally get a little over the top. In one instance, he was working a construction position, driving a tractor. The supervisor was not popular with his crew and Doyle decided to block his supervisor in an outhouse with his tractor. Unfortunately, the outhouse was made of plywood. The outhouse was on the side of a hill and slid down the hill. The honeypot broke apart and Doyle’s boss was last seen sliding down the hill on one of the walls, covered in unmentionables. Fortunately for Doyle, he was not seen or discovered and his boss was a bit easier to work with after his impromptu honeypot ride. Doyle later moved to Lake Tahoe and worked for the county utilizing heavy equipment. He additionally worked at the Cal Neva Casino, South shore and met Frank Sinatra many times, but more importantly, the love of his life. After a few years Doyle and his family moved to the Sonoma area and settled into their current home. He worked for the post office as a commercial driver and finished his professional career with Petroleum company oil as a truck driver, driver trainer and plant operator. Doyle was an elder of his church for many years and had a great impact on many lives. Doyle was truly a roll model for all. He cared.
