Dorothy Esther Matteo, born March 28,1932, San Francisco, to Italian-born Anna Marie Palombino & Rosario Palombino, died October 3, 2021. Predeceased by ex-husband Vincent Matteo, and loving partner until his death Vern Dearing, siblings Vincent Palombino & Regina Duarte, She had 6 children, Gregory Matteo, Karen (Philip) Bertoli, Vincent Matteo, Randy Matteo, Dean Mattteo, and Larry Matteo; grandchildren Christopher (Mara) Bertoli, Natalie Bertoli, Charles Matteo, Michael Matteo, Ryan Matteo, and Danielle Matteo; great-granddaughter, Bianca Bertoli; and many nieces, nephews & extended family members all loved by her. From humble beginnings in Boyes Springs, she attended grammar school in Sonoma and High School in San Francisco. An active community member of the Moose Lodge, Sonoma Valley Hospital Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1943 - Vintage house, Sonoma Valley Grange, and Sons of Italy - Sonoma. Dot lived life fully, boisterously, and with an endless supply of stories. Her deep love of games and sense of adventure kept her mind sharp. Dot’s presence will be missed, but like the way she filled up a room, may the memories of her fill those voids.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Friday, November 5, 2021 at 10:00 am at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street, Sonoma, CA 95476. Visitation will be held at the chapel on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 11:00 am. to 4:00 p.m with a Vigil Service to begin at 4:00 p.m.
