Dorothy Mary O’Halloran Ford died Monday June 20, 2022 at home in Sonoma at the age of 95 yrs.
Born in Boston, MA in 1926 she came to California in 1962 after marrying Edward Ford to settle first in La Quinta, later in Belmont and finally in Sonoma in order to be closer to daughter, Mary and her family.
Dorothy was a teacher and a life-long learner. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Emmanuel College in Boston and a Masters in Communication from Columbia. She taught the deaf prior to getting married, and once their 2 daughters were in High School she returned to teaching as a teacher’s aide until she retired at almost 80 yrs. of age.
In her retirement, she loved going out to eat at the Cheese Factory, the Depot Hotel or the Red Grape with family and friends. She loved movies, reading, and listening to books on tape. She loved keeping up to date with her many friends and spending time with Mary and Francine and the children and grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by daughter Mary Johanna Ford and daughter-in-law Francine Morrissette of Sonoma, CA, grandchildren Aiko-Sophie Morrissette Ezaki (Edward Cunniffe, children Ronin and Odette) and Pascal (Ashley and son, Miles) Ezaki of Sonoma, CA; Son-in -law James Haakinson and grandchildren Elijah, Mariah and Johannah Haakinson of Michigan.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Edward James Ford, daughter Julie Ford Haakinson and brother, Father Richard O’Halloran of Los Banos, CA and many other friends and relations.
