Daniel Radke Obituary

Daniel Thomas Radke, age 92, passed away on April 1, 2026.

Dan was born on May 6, 1933, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Mabel (Fisher) and Daniel H. Radke. At the age of three, he moved with his family to San Francisco, California, where he was raised. He attended Polytechnic High School and later City College of San Francisco.

In 1952, Dan proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served honorably during the Korean conflict—an experience he held close to his heart and reflected upon with deep pride throughout his life

. Dan embarked on a successful professional journey in 1961 when he partnered with Reed Gardner to establish a small agency representing several lighting manufacturers. Through dedication and perseverance, that venture grew into Associated Lighting Representatives (ALR), a respected and enduring presence in the lighting industry.

Dan had great style—not just in his clothes, though everyone noticed that, but in the way he saw the world. He had an eye for design, evident in his career, and a deep appreciation for detail and craftsmanship. He favored things made well and built to last. After retiring, he devoted two years to meticulously constructing a 1933 Ford Roadster.

In 2003, he and his wife, Sara, moved to Sonoma, California, where he took up golf and began learning new crafts. He spent many quiet hours in his workshop, shaping wood into model cars and ships, each piece reflecting his patience, care, and quiet dedication.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Timlin Radke; his devoted children—son, Jeff, and daughters, Denise and Eva; and his cherished grandson, Alexander. Dan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, the Wounded Warrior Project or By the Bay Health Hospice - Sonoma.
