Beverly Pearson Obituary

Beverly B. Pearson passed away peacefully at home in Sonoma after a short downturn in her health. Bev was a beloved member of the Sonoma community with fast friendships made through her many volunteer roles. She was known for her kindness, generosity and easy laughter.

Beverly was born in Baltimore, the only child of Howard Busick and Beverly Fisk Reynolds, both members of venerable Baltimore families. Mr. Busick was one of three brothers who owned and managed the Lord Baltimore Hotel, considered among the finest hotels in the nation and particularly significant for making history by being the first hotel in the city to welcome Black patrons in defiance of local segregation ordinances. Mrs. Busick was the daughter of Stanley Meade Reynolds, prominent journalist and associate editor of the Baltimore Evening Sun and later, managing editor of the Baltimore Sun.

Beverly attended Roland Park Country School, graduating in 1953, and then studied at Connecticut College before her marriage in 1955 to Albert Trout. In 1968 she married Elver T. Pearson, “the love of her life,” and they enjoyed 40 years of devoted marriage before Elver passed away from Parkinson’s in 2008. Beverly was a loving mother to her three children and to El’s three children, a beloved grandmother to 13, and great-grandmother to five!

Apart from her large family, Beverly’s passion was her community, and her interests in people and art were reflected in the broad array of organizations she supported. She served as a board member and on the play reading committee of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance (precursor of Sonoma Arts Live) and on the board of the Sonoma Community Center. Bev also volunteered for the Sonoma Arts Guild, was a steadfast volunteer at Brown Baggers where she is remembered as a “dream volunteer” and at FISH (Friends in Sonoma Helping). She also read aloud to the elderly and tutored struggling students at the local high school. Beverly was a giver, and everyone who knew her considered themselves to be her special friend.

For many years Bev was extremely active in the Congregational Church, including her participation in the Women's Fellowship, The Thrift Shop, and the Caring Friends group. Bev’s presence in Les Femmes, a women's group that has met regularly for 30 years, is sorely missed.

Beverly is survived by her three Trout children, Philip (Mary), Phyllis (Brian) and Stanley (Sue) and her three Pearson children, Sara (Adam), Mart (Rebecca) and Lindley (Mary). Her thirteen grandchildren live in the Bay Area (Julia, Eleanor, Olivia, Alexis, Liam), Southern California (Nicole, Preston, Sam), Seattle (Dustin, Amanda, Timothy), Vermont (Maggie) and as far away as Asti, Italy (Kaya).  The family expresses eternal gratitude to her loving longtime caregiver, Charlotte Simpson, and to her best friend Monica McKey, along with her many wonderful caring friends.

There will be a celebration of Beverly’s life held at the Sonoma Community Center Garden at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025. A private interment will be held separately. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Sonoma Arts Guild or to Sonoma Arts Live.
