Beatrice Lynch

Beatrice May Fitzgerald Lynch- October 23, 1927- June 27, 2022.  Beatrice was born in San Francisco to Irish immigrant parents Maurice Fitzgerald and Bridie McCarthy Fitzgerald. She is survived by her siblings Maurice Fitzgerald (Alana), James Fitzgerald, and Barbara Deasy (William).

Beatrice started her school career as a Kindergartener at Glen Park Elementary School and ended her career as Principal of the same school. Bea was a proud member of the January class of 1945 From Balboa High School.  While there, she worked on the yearbook and kept a few to review over the years.  She was always dedicated to Education as evidenced by her BA in Education from SFSU and her MA from Stanford University in Education Administration.  She taught and was an administrator for the SFUSD for thirty years. She was a member of Pi Lambda Tau (an Education fraternal organization) and AAUW.

In 1957 Bea married the love of her life, Peter Paul Lynch.  They welcomed their only child, Paula in 1961.  Paula is married to Tia-min Pang.  Bea always said Min was like a son to her.  During their time together they lived in Westlake, the Outer Mission, Hillsborough, and Baywood in San Mateo before moving to Sonoma.  Paul pre-deceased Beatrice in 2004.  In the last years of her life she had an apartment she loved at Sonoma Hills Independent Living.

Bea has many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins both here and abroad.  She often spoke of her close ties to the Cornblatts, the O’Connors, and Carol Fitzgerald Sr.

A viewing will be held at Duggan’s Mission Chapel (525 W. Napa Street, Sonoma, CA 95476) from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM on Wednesday, July 6 followed by Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Francis Solano Catholic Church (469 Third Street West [ x- Napa Street], Sonoma) A graveside service to follow at Valley Cemetery, Sonoma.
