Bruce K. Adams passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 86. Bruce was preceded in death by his father Ken Adams, mother Minnie Konda Adams, daughter Kerstin Adams, and wife Elvera Adams. Following Elvera’s passing, Bruce was fortunate to find a second love of his life with Kathryn Sullivan of Waunakee WI. Bruce is survived by his children Marissa and Evan Adams, his grandson Ari Adams and daughter-in-law Heather Zimmerman.
Bruce grew up in San Francisco, graduated from Lincoln High School and UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. His career spanned 65 years in the flooring industry. He pioneered the idea of sales aimed at architectural specifications. He worked with his own father, and then his son for twenty years - four generations in the Bay Area building materials industry. He survived polio as a child and credited the experience with teaching him fortitude in challenging times. Bruce was intellectually curious; he loved business, history, travel, conservative politics, sailing, and architecture. He designed his family homes in Hillsborough and Sonoma where the Adams’ resided the last quarter century. Bruce’s ethics, personally and professionally, focused on treating people equally. Bruce served as Senior Warden at the Episcopal Church of Saint Matthew in San Mateo, Water Commissioner in the Sonoma Valley of the Moon Water District, and enjoyed flexing his green thumb as part of his HOA’s landscaping committee. He hated to mow the grass, but loved feeding that same grass to his neighbor’s sheep. He ensured his kids had opportunity, education, and were in church on Sunday mornings. He lived a long life full of adventures and blessings and will be remembered for his strong opinions, unwavering optimism, and humor.
