Antanina “Nina” Keene a resident of Sonoma California, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2020 at the age of 83. Nina was born on September 23, 1937 in a small village named SandBank, which is located on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. She was one of four children raised by her mother and father Hugh and Margaret Lees. Nina lived in Scotland until she completed high school upon which she decided to move to the US. She first settled in San Jose California at the age of 19 to live with her aunt Christina. She started working for an insurance company in San Jose where she met her future husband George. They were married in 1962 and eventually settled down in Belmont California. They had their only child, a daughter they named Kristine in 1968. Nina worked with special education children for the next 20 years. She was very well loved by the children whose lives she touched, and well respected by her peers. George and Nina retired to Sonoma California in 1997 where they spent the rest of their years. Nina enjoyed volunteering with the Mission Olive Preservation, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband George Keene and sister Margaret Lees. She is survived by her daughter Kristine Keene and her brothers Hugh and David Lees. Her spirit and memory will forever live on in the hearts and souls of her family and friends.
