Sharon Ann Panelli Burns passed away on May 4, 2018. Beloved wife of Brian Burns, Daughter Nicole (deceased), son Michael, grandkids Tiana and Angelo. Sharon was the daughter of Vincent and Josephine Panelli, sister to Christine Delgrande and brother Vince Panelli.
Born in San Francisco, She lived her first years in North Beach, until her parents moved to Westlake. Sharon went to Westmore High School and College of San Mateo. Sharon received her Cosmetology License in 1974. Married in 1975, Brian and Sharon moved to Glen Ellen in 1978 and started a family. She teamed up with Roseann Fanucchi and ran Roseann’s Haircutting for 30 years. She loved cutting hair and turning her loyal clients into friendships that spanned decades.
She was a family-first mother and “the great protector”. She always worried for her family’s health and safety. She lovingly raised her two children. With both kids out of the house, she didn’t have much time to ponder what to do next. Fifteen years ago, her daughter had a tragic death. Grandpa and Nonnie stepped in and raised Nicole’s two children as their own, then just four and five years old. She always tried to raise the kids like Nicole would.
A grandma at 45, she became known as “Nonnie” to all of us. Nonnie was the home body, only leaving the nest for family events and girls fun…but first, she always made sure the coffee was unplugged.
It was her battle with breast cancer that we all witnessed her unwavering strength to be a gift to us all for as long as she could. She had a nurturing spirit and was deeply ingrained in everyone’s lives. She cultivated relationships and was always there to lend a hand or an ear, and ask for nothing in return. She will live on in our hearts. We love you Nonnie.
We want to thank all the caregivers during Nonnie’s last days, Chris Delgrande, Sharon Burns, Wendy Smith, Shirley Cervelli, Patty Tomko, Nicole Abela Burns, Bonnie Fredericks, Joni Derickson, my son Michael, granddaughter Tiana and grandson Angelo. And her dog Chip, who was there every day and night, lying next to her. For all the love to Nonnie.
