Rose Damato Tarantino

Rose Damato Tarantino  December 18, 1922 – June 30, 2018

Rose Tarantino passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018 at the age of 95 at her home in Sonoma, where she had lived for 25 years. Rose was born and raised in San Francisco, California to a large Italian family. She was first generation American.  She was a champion swimmer and fencer in her youth, as well as a violinist.  Rose married her sweetheart, Tom Tarantino in 1947. They were happily married for 71 years.  Rose also spent years as the President of the Sonoma Women’s Social Club where she devoted her time organizing large luncheons, fashion shows, along with hat creation contests.  The smells of her Italian cooking permeated the neighborhood where she lived as they carried out of her famous “Garage Kitchen”.

Rose is survived by her loving husband, Tom, Daughter Kathleen Tarantino, Grandson Anthony Thomas Pappas, Brother Frank Damato, and many loving Nieces and Nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held July 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM St. Francis Solano Church, 469 Third Street West, Sonoma, CA 95476
