Richard B Sheridan, M.D.
10/26/32- 1/25/18
Dick Sheridan passed away on January 25th, 2018, after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease for seven years. He endured his afflictions with great courage, patience, dignity, and of course, the humor for which he was well- known.
Dick was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved with his mother, Greta, and father, Joe, to Monterey Park, a Los Angeles suburb in California, when he was very young. He attended St Stephens elementary school and Cantwell High School. After military service in Korea, he attended and graduated from Loyola University and went on to medical school at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he met his future wife, Margaret Nolan.
After his internship and residency at San Diego County Hospital, Dick and his family lived in Hacienda Heights and Whittier, California. Dick practiced Obstetrics & Gynecology in West Covina, Calif., for 30-plus years. He was also certified in the Addiction Medicine specialty, which he practiced for over 10 years.
He and Marge relocated to Sonoma, Calif., in retirement, where Dick was very active in choral groups, writing groups and community theatre. He was an avid LA Dodger fan and a loyal friend of Bill W's for over 43 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons Peter ( Kimberly) and Andrew; daughter Caroline (Russell Triplett); six grandchildren ; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 4:30 until 6:30 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 5 P.M. on Fri., February 2, at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W Napa St., Sonoma. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Sat., Feb. 3, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 601 West Agua Caliente Rd, Sonoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice by the Bay, Sonoma County Council on Aging ( Sr Social Club), or Cantwell High School, Montebello, Calif., are suggested.
