Michael Deane Myers passed away unexpectedly on November 23rd, 2019 in Sonoma, California. He was born August 19, 1950 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Polly Ann Brooke Myers and Raymond William Myers. During his life he lived in Japan, Indiana, New York, West Virginia, California, Massachusetts, and Oregon. He was predeceased in 1983 by his wife Stephanie (Coulter) Myers.
As a retired psychologist for the Berkeley Unified school district he was dedicated to improving the lives of students. His previous experience included working with the developmentally disabled, a special education coordinator, vocational counselor, as well as a child and family therapist. His passions included utilizing and working with computer programs in his profession, hiking the California trails, watching anything Sci Fi related, finding the perfect dessert, meditation, exercise, and sharing laughter and meals with friends and family.
His education included graduation from Sonoma Valley High School in 1968, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, California State University Chico 1973, Master of Arts in Counseling, Sonoma State College 1978, Community College Counselor Credential 1978, Marriage, Family and Child Counselor State of California 1981, Licensed Educational Psychologist, State of California 1983, and Mental Health Investigator, State of Oregon 1988.
Michael was a deep introspective thinker, a dedicated father of two daughters, Brandee Myers Horvatits of East Aurora, NY and ….. He was an adventurer with his grandson Kellan Wittmann of East Aurora, NY, as well as a forever friend to Dr. Frances Rapoport of Marin, California. Brother of Brooke Myers of Washington, Kay Hoveland of California, Robin Brooke of Oregon, and Cyndi Peterson of California. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held in the near future. He will be missed.
