John Pericic Obituary

John George Pericic

Passed peacefully on December 10, 2018 at the age of 96.

John Pericic was born in San Francisco in 1922 - the son of Joseph and Dobra Pericic – immigrants from Croatia in the early 1900’s. He had three sisters who predeceased him, Mary Silva, Helen Radetich and Millie Stimmel.

John was raised in the Potrero District on Kansas Street in the house built by his father in 1915. He attended Patrick Henry Elementary School, Daniel Webster and Everett Middle Schools and graduated from Lick Wilmerding High School in 1939.

He was first married in 1945 to the late Eva Agazzi for 46 years, and married a second time to the late Elena Razura for 13 years.

He was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II based in San Diego as a Stationary Engineer.

After the war, he continued his Uncle Frank Pericic’s grocery business with his wife, Eva, in the Richmond District in San Francisco for 15 years. He then worked briefly for Circus Peanuts prior to employment with the city of San Francisco – Department of Electricity where he repaired parking meters and fire alarms. He retired after 18 years in 1985.

During his life, John enjoyed a wide variety of activities including fishing in California and Oregon; camping in the Mt Shasta Area with Eva and the Alger Family; square dancing with both Eva and Elena; numerous cruises; regular trips to Lake Tahoe and Reno; swimming and golfing.

For the past 6 years, John has resided at Sonoma Hills Community - a return to the country setting where he and his family shared many heart-warming visits at their property in El Verano dating back to 1930.

John was a “Renaissance Man”, a member of the “Greatest Generation”, the epitomy of a true gentleman - respected and loved by many.

John is survived by many nieces, nephews, God-children and step- children.   More recently he enjoyed a loving relationship with Mildred.
