Gloria Dean Robles

Gloria Dean Robles died peacefully on April 18th, 2018, surrounded by her loving children. She joined the Lord, her beloved husband Alfred, infant daughter Gloria Elizabeth, parents Clifford and Daisy, sister Faye Collins, and great-grandson Matthew David Dudy. Gloria was filled with loving kindness and never spoke an ill word about anyone. Her generous, bright spirit will be remembered by all with the warmth and love she shared. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and grandmother-figure to many in the community.

Gloria was one of four children born into the family of Clifford and Daisy Belcher on May 17, 1937 in Provo, Kentucky. She was raised on a soybean farm in Mt. Vernon, Indiana where she played with the farm animals and learned how to garden. At the age of 11, the family moved to San Francisco. She soon met Alfred Robles and the two were instantly inseparable.

Once graduated from Hilltop School of Cosmetology, Gloria worked in the family salon, Deb’s Coiffeurs, in San Francisco. Later, following her parents, Gloria and Alfred moved to Sonoma to “find peace away from the big city”. She would then open her own salon, La Gloria Salon, in El Verano. In 2002, her husband Alfred passed away. Gloria continued to love and guide her children with great strength and courage. She insisted they all attend church and be baptized in the Lord. She was a long-time active member of the Lighthouse Christian Church where she made many loving friendships.

            Gloria, nicknamed “Corkey”, is survived by eight of her sons and daughters, Rita Robles, Michael Robles, Joy Stoper and husband Daniel, Alfred Robles and wife Lynda, Eddie Robles and wife Paula, Vincent Robles, Gloria Garcia and husband John, and Hilario Robles and wife Tiffany, as well as her brother Ed Belcher and sister Phyllis Kinimaka. She has 26 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 26, at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Christian Church, 170 Andrieux St, Sonoma.
