Gail Buchholz, devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on April 10, 2018.
Gail was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 24, 1936, the only child of Leonard and Anne Okray. Her intelligence and creative ability was evident at an early age and throughout her life. She was a gifted artist and was also skilled at home renovation and design.
Her passion for seeing the world encouraged her to become a stewardess for United Airlines in 1958. While stationed in San Francisco, she met the love of her life, Hugo Rudolf Buchholz at the Buena Vista Cafe. They married on May 2, 1959 and raised their family in their beloved city of San Francisco.
Gail was a partner with her husband in running a successful painting and decorating business for thirty years. Later, they enjoyed spending time in Sonoma where Gail created an inviting home and beautiful garden.
Travel was a great joy for Gail and having a spiritual nature she often sought to visit sacred places, gaining insight and peace. Her memorable adventures included going on safari in Africa, exploring Easter Island, hiking to Machu Picchu, relaxing in Tahiti, and visiting the Taj Mahal.
The heart and soul of the family, Gail encouraged, guided, and supported each of her children and grandchildren. She felt that providing a close and loving home was very important. She planned countless family birthdays and holiday celebrations, making sure to create memories full of love and laughter.
Her interests included art, history, and music. Reading was also a favorite pastime and her book club brought her much enjoyment. She placed a special value on the relationships with her friends.
Gail will be deeply missed and remembered for her inspiration, thoughtfulness, and wisdom. She was beautiful inside and out and will never be forgotten.
Gail is survived by her husband Hugo Rudolf, daughter Heidi Anne Ralph (husband Richard), daughter Brigitt Marie Rogne (husband Benny), and son Hugo Alan Buchholz (wife Deidra) and by her grandchildren Erik Rogne, Markus Rogne, Celina Ralph, Darya Buchholz, Kyra Buchholz, and Aydan Buchholz.
