A noble man who was loved by all left us on 08/28/18. Frank Robert Maestas passed away at his beloved Sonoma home next to his namesake vineyard. He was surrounded by his favorite art, his music and his loving family.
Born in Colorado on August 12, 1931 he came to San Francisco in 1947 at the age of 16 where he met Patricia Sue Johnson, his future wife and the mother of his 4 children. Frank had a long and interesting life. He went to work at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph while attending college and he rose through the ranks and retired from AT&T in NYC in 1983. Frank was an avid skier well into his 70’s. Upon retirement he devoted time painting and to his love of sculpting wood, marble and stone. He traveled extensively throughout the world. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War. He married his second wife Peggy Ann Sieghardt in 1988 and they had a happy life together until her untimely death in 2009.
Frank is survived by his 4 loving children and their spouses Gary (Barbara), Karen (David), Kathleen (Earl) and David (Andrea), his 8 adoring grandchildren Nicole, Shane, Danielle, Lauren, Julian, Alyssa, August and Carly. He adored his great grandsons Evan, Liam and Matthias. He is also survived by his loving nieces Gloria, Louise and Pauline and his nephew Arthur and many great -nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved friend Carole Zinck.
There will be a private family burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California and a celebration of Frank’s life with family and friends will take place, Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the family home. In lieu of flowers we request donations to Doctors Without Borders or Pet's Lifeline in Sonoma, CA.
