Valerie (James) Ammann

Passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A lifelong resident of Sonoma she was born September 23, 1952.  Her parents William Calton James and Marjorie Case James preceded her in death. Her husband, Herbert Ammann, daughter Lisa Renee Meyer, and grandchildren MeiLani Meyer, Kapono Meyer and King Rogers survive her.  Also survived by her sister, Juanita James Cook, brother Gregory (Vickie) James, nieces Amy Cook Emry and Jenny James Ynieques, and two grand-nieces. 

Valerie was a 1970 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School.  She was employed at Sonoma Developmental Center for 22 years where she was an afternoon charge and mentor to many.

Her family and friends were at the center of her life and she will be missed deeply.  She was generous with her smile, laugh and words of support.
