Thomas Hickerson Obituary

Thomas Robert Hickerson died on April 19, 2018, at the age of 71, in Santa Rosa, CA due to chronic renal failure. 

Tom was born on March 14, 1947 in Birmingham, AL to Joseph and Virginia Hickerson. He attended Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo and played several years of professional baseball with the Tigers and the Cardinals MLB organizations. He graduated from California State University Sacramento and worked as a teacher and coach at Sonoma Valley High School for the next 30 years. He retired in 2007 and then dedicated his time to coaching and playing the game of golf.

Tom was a loving father and a patient and supportive teacher with a passion for sports and friendship. He is survived by his brother Joseph Edward Hickerson; his son, Chad; and his grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his father and mother, Joseph and Virginia; and his brother William.

Tom will be buried in a private ceremony at the Mountain Cemetery in Sonoma, California. A Celebration of Life will take place on June 9th, 2018, from 11am to 3pm at the Sonoma Community Center (Andrews Hall). All those who knew and loved Tom are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
