On June 21, 2017 Kathy passed away at home. Kathy was born on October 7, 1944 in Ross, California. She was born to Theodore Cyrus Lowry and Frances Catherine Lowry and was predeceased by her husband, Albert Charles Mazza. Kathy is survived by her brother, Dennis Patrick Lowry of Napa, daughters, Lisa McPherson of Napa; Laura Nieddu (Anthony) of Valley Springs; and Gina Clyde (Scott) of Sonoma and Al’s children, Suzanne Guzman (Edward) of Oregon; Stephen Mazza (Linda) of Lodi and Mark Mazza of Novato. Her adoring grandchildren are Robert Graham III (Casey); Randall Jelly (Ronnie); Jerad Graham; Nicholas Silva; Adam Graham; Levi Mazza; Luke Mazza; Tamyra Mazza and Ty Mazza; Maria Guzman and Edward Guzman. She is also survived by her nephews, Timothy Lowry and Thomas Lowry as well as many great-grandchildren.

Kathleen attended St. John’s Catholic School in Napa, Napa High School and Napa Junior College. Kathy resided in Napa with her three daughters until moving to Sonoma in 1984. There she became the administrative assistant for the City of Sonoma, working at the Sonoma City Hall for over 17 years. It was there that she met and married the love her life, Al Mazza, the Fire Chief for the City of Sonoma. While working at Sonoma City Hall, Kathy formed life-long bonds with coworkers. Her friends have been there for her and the girls, and continue to be there.

In 2006 Kathy and Al were selected as Alcalde and Alcaldessa, Sonoma’s coveted award for lifetime service for volunteerism. Kathy’s favorite thing was dancing with her husband, Al. After Al retired they traveled extensively both in the states and abroad. But she was happiest when she was cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Kathy will always be remembered for her commitment to the community and love of volunteering. She was a member of several organizations, including being a board member for the Sonoma Teen Center, co-chair of the Red & White Ball, and she spent numerous days each week working and advocating for Sonoma’s Meals on Wheels. Her friends and family will miss her sense of humor, sharp wit and tireless generosity.
