On 16 March 2018, Joachim Heinz Briese passed away peacefully in his sleep from natural causes.Born in Nazi Germany in 1932, “Joe” survived the Allied bombing and displacement from his childhood home. After the war, Joe emigrated to Canada where he had to endure the brutal job of coal mining and laboring on the waterfalls of the Moses hydroelectric project, where over 20 workers died. After saving enough money, he emigrated to the US, where his love of carpentry led to his dream job of teaching inmates in correctional facilities on how to manufacture and build wood products for the State of California.
He was a hard worker and a great dancer, and he will be truly missed. He leaves behind a loving family.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 29th, 2 p.m., at Duggan's Mission Chapel in Sonoma, Calif., followed by a wake at the home of Marisa Briese. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pets Lifeline or an animal charity of your choice.
