James M. (Mike) Kirby was born on Christmas Day 1969 at the U.S. Army 130th Station Hospital, Heidelberg, Germany. He moved with his parents to Northern California, where in Novato, he attended San Marin High School, where he played varsity soccer.

Mike joined the U.S. Army and served at the Army’s Armor School at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and with the 3rd Infantry Division in Kitzingen, Germany, and was honorably discharged as a hard stripe Sergeant (E-5).

He returned to civilian life after his service of seven years and settled in Sonoma, California.

He is survived by his children, Natasha, James and Tyler; and his grandchildren, Kimberly, Cheyenne and Taylor. He is also survived by his parents, James Kirby and Margaret Mickelson, his sister Dawn, brother Sean, and godfather John Kirby.

May he rest in peace and be remembered especially as a loving father and grandfather.

The family will have a private service of remembrance. There will also be a celebration of his life to be announced.
