Dorothy Marie Russo

Dorothy Marie Russo, age 89, a retired nurse, teacher, ceramic hobbyist and gifted cook, died peacefully on January 4, 2017, at Nazareth House in San Rafael, CA. Dorothy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 20, 1927, to the late John and Veronica Dinda. She was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA, and received her Master's in Education from Kent State University. She was the beloved wife for over 59 years of Gaetano Russo, who passed in 2010. She is survived by seven children: Peter Russo and Kit Bakke (Seattle, WA), Paula Russo and Jeff Leonard (San Anslemo), Mark and Lisa Russo (Pinole), Francis Russo and Patti Stieger (McCall, ID), Gina Russo and Jose Sandoval (Vallejo), Leanne and Lars Swann (Sonoma), and John and Marisa Russo (San Rafael). She is survived by seven grandchildren, Joanne Marrocco, Christopher Leonard, Mayan Noren, Tess, Leah and Alexandria Russo, Abigail Sandoval; and two great grand-children, Cyrus and June Noren. She leaves a sister, Evelyn Yoe (Novelty, OH) and two brothers, John Dinda (Maple Heights, OH) and Francis Dinda (Broadview Heights, OH). Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2121 Spring Street, Saint Helena. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in her name to the Sisters of Nazareth, Nazareth House, 245 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael, CA 94903.
