Arlene passed peacefully July 6, 2017 in her home in Sonoma, CA. Surrounded by her loving family and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bowein. She is survived by her daughters, Darleen Carr of Sonoma, Cheri Jarvis (Benny) of Vacaville, Shelly Crandell (Gary) of Sonoma and Shauna Wolfe (Jeff) of Santa Rosa as well as her sisters and brothers, Virginia (Denny), Virgil (Dub), Patricia (Sis) and Al (Junior). Her great grandchildren are Kyle, Cristina, JD, Austin, Trevor, Abby, Camden and Everly. An infinite number of nieces and nephews.

Arlene was a Sonoma county resident for most of her life. She enjoyed slalom water skiing, playing poker, bowling, ballroom dancing and horseback riding. She put up an amazing garden every year, into her early 90’s, canning and drying foods for her family. Mom was a gifted seamstress, creating horse blankets, seats for Chrysler and Pontiac, boat covers as well as clothing for her family. She was also a licensed beautician, cake decorator and china painter. Her talents with a crochet hook were very impressive, as we are reminded each Christmas with her snowflakes and ornaments.

She loved all power tools (especially her chainsaw) using them to maintain and improve her home and yard.

Grammie (as she was known by everyone) was the matriarch, and absolutely the heart and spirit of her family. Her kindness, loving understanding and generous ways were constant. She will serve as a heartwarming inspiring reminder, to follow her example of unconditional love of family.
